Our ethos is that ‘Safety Comes First’.
Excellence in Health, Environment, Safety and Quality (HESQ) is a priority for HE Simm. We have a total commitment to ensure that all work is undertaken with regards the health and safety of all those involved. We believe exemplary performance in health and safety is the catalyst to ensure delivery of a successful project and we will not compromise on this.
Industry Leading Initiatives
As an established Building Services Partner, we operate in full compliance with legislation and statutory requirements. However, we take pride in constantly seeking to be at the forefront of the industry in health and safety through innovative initiatives such as Passport to Work. Additionally, we have a comprehensive and third party verified HESQ Management system which spans the full scope of our business activities and includes minimum and trade requirement standards, procedures and policies to ensure our ethos is realised.
Personal Ownership of Safety
We strive to ensure that our workforce retains and recognises personal ownership of safety. Everyone has an obligation to ensure that their actions never put themselves, their colleagues, or the public at risk. We continuously train our workforce and employ a ‘prevent not punish’ attitude and ‘train and explain’ culture within HE Simm. We also issue individuals with our safety pre-task checklists and ‘Stop, Step Back, Observe’ (SSO) books in order to ensure personal ownership of safety.
We will continuously improve our HESQ performance through monitoring procedures, setting clear goals and measuring progress against specific performance criteria. Our in-house Health and Safety Consultants, Aspen Thorn, provide project cycle HESQ Management, training, site audit real-time reporting, desktop auditing of our supply chain and full ongoing support from their dedicated and multi-skilled workforce.
Health and Safety in the Supply Chain
We can only achieve exceptional health and safety performance through full collaboration with our supply chain partners. We only work with consistently highly performing and safe suppliers and sub-contractors who share our ‘right first time’ approach to health and safety.
